What to do if you want to increase travel history? How long you will stay or how long you must stay in a country when you go on a travel visa. Bangladesh Peace Clock

কানাডার রাজপথে বুকটান করে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে বাংলাদেশের “শান্তির ঘড়ি”। ঘড়িটি স্থাপনের জন্য বাংলাদেশের আজিজ চৌধুরী ২০১০ সালে উইন্ডসোর নগর কর্তৃপক্ষের হাতে ৩০ হাজার কানাডিয়ান ডলার তুলে দেন। ডাউন টাউনের পথে হাঁটতে হাঁটতে প্রায়ই মানুষ তাঁকে সময় জিজ্ঞেস করত। মানুষের এই জিজ্ঞাসার একটি স্থায়ী সমাধানের কথা তিনি ভাবতে থাকেন। সেই ভাবনারই ফসল ‘বাংলাদেশ পিস ক্লক’। টাকা দেওয়ার সময় দুটি শর্তও দিয়েছিলেন চৌধুরী সাহেব, ঘড়িটায় বাংলাদেশের নাম থাকতে হবে আর থাকতে হবে শান্তির বার্তা। কর্তৃপক্ষও তাতে রাজি হয়ে Bangladesh Peace Clock নামে ঘড়িটির নামকরণ করে। সত্যি বলতে কানাডার মতো রাষ্ট্রের রাস্তায় নিজ দেশের নাম দেখে কতটা ভালো লাগা কাজ করেছিল তা ভাষায় প্রকাশ করা অসম্ভব। উল্লেখ্য, মিস্টার আজিজ চৌধুরী ১৯৭৯ সালে মাত্র ৩৫ কানাডিয়ান ডলার সাথে নিয়ে স্বপ্নের দেশ কানাডায় পাড়ি জমিয়েছিলেন। একটি পাবলিক লাইব্রেরীতে কাজ করার মাধ্যমে প্রবাসে তার কর্মজীবন শুরু হয়। আর সেখান থেকে তিলে তিলে জমানো টাকা দিয়ে ঘড়িটি স্থাপন করে কানাডার বুকে বাংলাদেশের নামটি উজ্জ্বল করেন। এ ছাড়া উইন্ডসোর মসজিদ উন্নয়নেও রয়েছে তার বিশাল অবদান। উদার মনের এ মানুষটি ২০১৮ সালে দুনিয়ার সফরের ইতি টানলেও যুগযুগ ধরে মানুষ তাকে স্মরণ করবে।
